Before I go on about work, I
wanted to talk about my ride to work. We were not set up to ride on the company
shuttle yet, so we took a taxi from the hotel to the office. Well, I should say
that Matt, Steve, and Larissa took a taxi to the office. Sandesh and I took a
rickshaw to work. There was no room in the taxi for all of us, and I wanted an
adventure. A rickshaw is a three-wheeled adventure ride. It was one of the most
exciting rides in my life. The drivers are absolutely crazy and these things
are so maneuverable; words can’t even describe the ride you experience.
So, when I got to the office, it was time to start my first day. Well, not
really. Today we had induction for new employees. It was boring. Most of the
stuff discussed was for new, full- time hires. There were a few local interns,
but no other Americans. So, we didn’t need to know most of the stuff that the
different department people were talking about.
*lunch time*
Hooray, we got to leave the
group at lunch time because they realized that what they were telling us was
pointless. So, after we left the group, we met Sandesh and Tanu for lunch. I
had a veg sandwich. It was good, but I am really starting to miss meat. The
sandwich had tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, some kind of vegetable spread, and some
kind of spicy powder combination sprinkled on. Then it was grilled like a
Panini. It wasn't bad, but I really miss some lunch meat. Ooh, I can’t forget
about my mango smoothie, boy was that good! So, after lunch, Sandesh and Tanu
took us to another conference room where we met some of our future colleagues.
They were very interesting and very eager to start working with us. After
we talked to them, the day was basically over.... We went home and went
to bed almost right away.
